We're joining forces with Creative Front, a project run by Anglia Ruskin University, to help promote local creative industries within Cambridgeshire. This includes web design and development, which is our core membership.
Creative Front will help us run at least two events a year, to help with this we need to have one person on the steering committee to help look out for Refresh's interests and a couple of Refresh "champions" who Creative Front will work with to arrange the joint events.
If anyone is interested in volunteering for these roles please email the list.
A new non-profit organisation that will act as an umbrella organisation for all creative groups in Cambridgeshire, including Refresh Cambridge.
No, absolutely not. Refresh will continue in exactly the same way as before, as a mailing list and occasional talks, and will not charge for membership. It will still be called Refresh, and the people running it will still be local designers/developers.
Refresh's association with Creative Front is not not formal, and there is no contract. Creative Front is not 'taking over' Refresh, and they are keen to provide the support we ask for, and aren't pressing anything on us. e.g. They are offering to help Refresh with practical support to ensure that meeting's continue and are effective i.e. well organised and publicised.
Membership of Creative Front is paid after the first year, then there will be different rates for individuals, companies, etc. Your membership of Creative Front is optional, and is separate from your membership of Refresh, although they are offering Refresh members free membership for the first year.
Membership of Creative Front will entitle you to free attendance at CF events, and to advertise their services on the CF directory.
Of course. This mailing list will continue as normal, and any pub meets or evening events will still be free. The exception to this will be events co-organised by CF and funded by CF money - these will be free to CF members, but non-members may have to pay a small fee to attend.
There really is very little to be unhappy about. If you don't want to become a member of CF, then things will carry on exactly as before apart from there will be some new things happening in the city organised and funded by CF.
